Another coincidence, this time a happy one. The following day I flew to Banja Luka. I could scarcely believe it - Pablo was on the plane. "What are you doing here?" I asked, surprised. "I'm flying to Banja Luka, on to Zagreb, and from there travelling home" Feeling happy, I said to him: "Dear Pablo! One month ago, I met Katherine! I was happy! Today you left Sarajevo, I'm sad! But through you I met Katherine! Through her you will be still present in Sarajevo!"
We reminisced about the past few days and months - and took leave of each other...
Back in Sarajevo, I went to Katherine's with a bottle of Moscato. We were both very, very sad about Pablo's departure. We cried. We consoled each other with affection and with words. She stated quite clearly once again: "I don't want to build up a friendship now, I'm not ready, I'm not a perfect woman!" "What modesty, dear Katherine! I can wait, I have found my inner peace!" I countered in resolute terms.
We went into the neighbour's garden to take leave of each other - I hurt my finger as I was cutting roses. The blood stuck to the roses. Katherine took the roses in her hands, embraced me and whispered into my ear:
Ciao, Renato!
