In the course of the next two days I phoned Katherine more than ten times. She always had someone say she wasn't available and refused to speak to me. A "bad sign", I thought. I tried to find a balance between reason and emotions once again. I retraced the routes that I had walked with Katherine.
Pablo had invited Katherine and me to Dubrovnik for a weekend. After Katherine's behaviour of the past few days I was certain that she would not turn up.

What a surprise! There she stood in front of the cars that were to take ourselves and some of Pablo's colleagues to Dubrovnik. "What's happened, Katherine, for you to be here!" was my spontaneous greeting.
"Pablo urged me to come with him. It might be his last weekend in Bosnia and Herzegovina." she replied. Katherine saw the tears of joy in my eyes.
