At the beginning of October, midwives Franco and Ursula sent me a letter and a photograph of my arrival at their home.
"If you were to be forty in forty days, would you set off your journey now?", they asked me.
"I don't know," I wrote back, "the 11th of September changed things, and changed my life and my ideas about life. The light-heartedness has gone. Freedom threatens to suffocate in an excess of fear and security. Whither goes the world, and where am I going in this changing world?"
