Bratislava
I decided to return to my native Italy, going overland via Zurich, travelling by rented car and train, and making a detour to Bratislava where Marianna and her husband Ivan, and their four children Ivana, Domenica, Jalenko and Mateus, were mourning her mother.
At the border, I had to have my shoes disinfected. The foot and mouth disease that was wreaking havoc in the United Kingdom was also causing panic in Slovakia. Special measures had been deemed necessary at border crossings.
Marianna's mother had died a few days before. Since her death, Marianna not dreamed of her mother. In vain she waited for a sign of life after her death.
Since my father's death I have often dreamed of him. In memories he comes back and lives on.
